Foley motorcyclist ejected, seriously injured in Pensacola crash

An 18-year-old Foley, Alabama, man was seriously injured when he was ejected from a motorcycle on South New Warrington Road in Pensacola on Tuesday.

Around 2:06 p.m., the cyclist was traveling north on New Warrington Road way approaching Lieutenant Street. As he accelerated to switch lanes, he drove over the wet lines on the roadway and began to slide, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

The driver lost control of his motorcycle and laid the vehicle down on its left side. He was ejected and continued sliding north on the roadway.

The motorcycle also continued sliding until its rear tire collided with the undercarriage of a moving pickup truck.

The motorcycle operator was transported to a local hospital where he was reported to be in serious but stable condition, according to the FHP.

The driver of the pickup, a 55-year-old Pensacola man, was not injured.

The driver of the motorcycle was cited for careless driving.
