Fond du Lac Audubon Society plans Wild Feast Potluck and more news in weekly dose

FOND DU LAC - Fond du Lac's Audubon Society will host a Wild Feast Potluck Sept. 6 at Denevue Creek Shelter, Lakeside Park (east end of Harbor View Drive). Socializing starts at 5 p.m. with food served about 5:30 p.m.

Attendees should take their own plate, cup, bowl, utensils and beverage. Take a dish to pass of food or drink that includes some wild ingredients or fresh produce from your garden. Take a list of ingredients or the recipe, so people can avoid allergy issues.

Fond du Lac seeks community input on new Lakeside Park bridge

The City of Fond du Lac, in partnership with MSA, is seeking feedback from the community on the design of a new bridge that will replace the Promen Drive arch bridge in Lakeside Park.

The public information meeting will be 5 to 6:30 p.m. Sept. 6 at Lakeside Park Pavilion, 71 Promen Drive.

Construction is planned for 2025.

Red Cross needs donors to keep blood supply up at hospitals

The American Red Cross continues to hold local blood drives to keep hospitals stocked.

Individuals who are 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and are in general good health may be eligible to donate blood.

A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required.

A local blood drive will be held 1-6 p.m. Sept. 8 at Fire Department Station 1, 815 S. Main St., Fond du Lac.

Learn D&D during Ripon library program

Upcoming programs at Ripon Public Library include a D&D game for teens and a new adult learning series.

Local Dungeon Masters will guide players through an adventure during D&D Game Time, 1 to 4 p.m. Sept. 10. The session is for teens and older, beginners are welcome. Registration is not required.

The first session in the adult learning series is “PTSD - From Two Perspectives,” from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 11.

Author Kart Stewart and retired psychology professor, Joe Hatcher will present the talk. There will be time for questions after the presentation.

TDS offers service in its first Fond du Lac neighborhood

TDS Telecommunications recently launched service in Fond du Lac. The project also offers a new TV provider, available to residents and businesses.

The company has been working in phases and residents can connect once work is completed in their neighborhood.

TDS has been installing a high-speed internet network in several local communities including the Fox Cities, Sheboygan County, Green Bay and Manitowoc.

Madison-based TDS and its subsidiary, TDS Metrocom LLC, participate in the Affordable Connectivity Program, which offers service at no cost to residents who qualify.
