Fond du Lac County Fair headliners for 2023 include the return of a top Christian rock band

FOND DU LAC – It's time to start planning for the Fond du Lac County Fair, starting with the grandstand headliners, which organizers announced Friday on Facebook.

Christian rock band Skillet will start off festivities July 20 on the Holiday Automotive stage. The announcement comes on the heels of the band's most recent album, "Dominion: Day of Destiny," which was released Feb. 17 as a deluxe edition of last year's "Dominion."

The band previously played the county fair in 2008.

Nearing 30 years, the band released 11 studio albums and 4 EPs since its 1996 origins, with seven having ranked on Billboard's Top Rock Albums chart, and nearly all of them ranking on the Top Christian Albums chart.

Though Skillet was formed in Tennessee, frontman John Cooper, his wife and bandmate Korey Cooper and the band's drummer Jen Ledger all live in Kenosha, Korey Cooper's hometown. Lead guitarist Seth Morrison lives in Nashville.

County fair weekend acts include TESLA and Randy Houser

Rocking the Holiday Automotive Stage on July 21 will be longtime rock act TESLA, formed in California in 1984.

The band roots itself in 1970s rock and roll influence, continuing to play sellout shows around the world from its 11 studio albums, according it its website. Current members include Frank Hannon, Brian Wheat, Jeff Keith, Troy Luccketta and Dave Rude.

Its most recent release is the single "Time to Rock!" from last June.

The final act July 22 will be country singer Randy Houser, who debuted in 2008 with the single "Anything Goes." One of his most popular songs, according to both billboard.com and Spotify, is "How Country Feels" from the 2013 album of the same name.

Tickets for all shows go on sale March 10 on the Fond du Lac County Fair's website. The cost is $100 for VIP tickets including fair parking and two drink tickets or $35 general admission tickets including covered seating at the grandstand or standing room on the track behind VIP.

The 2023 Fond du Lac County Fair, “Just Another Day in FAIRadise,” will run July 18 to 23. For more information, visit fonddulaccountyfair.com.
