Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office deploys armored vehicle to help arrest armed robbery suspect

CAMPBELLSPORT, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in Fond du Lac County say they had to deploy an armored vehicle on Saturday night to help assist in arresting a suspect believed to be involved in an armed robbery.

According to a release from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, West Bend police were investigating a robbery that occurred earlier that day and involved a firearm.

Officers with the West Bend Police Department then informed deputies that the suspect had recently been released from federal prison after serving a lengthy sentence and was believed to be at a residence in the Village of Campbellsport.

Due to the suspect’s violent past and the use of a firearm in the robbery, the Sheriff’s Office deployed an armored vehicle as West Bend police officers, SWAT, and Fond du Lac deputies converged on a residence on West Main Street.

While the West Bend Police Department worked to secure a warrant and a tactical strategy from SWAT was being planned, officials say the suspect left the residence in a vehicle.

Deputies were able to then conduct a high-risk traffic stop, arrest the suspect, and turn him over to the West Bend Police Department without any further incident.
