Fond du Lac moves up high school football rankings after big win over Kimberly

Here are the Oshkosh Northwestern/Fond du Lac Reporter high school football rankings after Week 7. Teams are ranked "pound-for-pound" with each team's success in relation to enrollment size.

1. Mayville (7-0): Cardinals running back Blake Schraufnagel is fourth in the state in rushing with 1,406 yards on 118 carries (11.9 average) and tied for second in touchdowns (21). Next: Friday vs. North Fond du Lac.

2. St. Mary's Springs (7-0): Ledgers defense has been consistent, averaging just 8.1 points allowed this season. Levi Huempfner (44) and Tom Koffman (43) lead the team in tackles. Next: Saturday at Lomira.

3. Fond du Lac (4-3): Cardinals move up two spots in rankings after 31-21 upset over No. 2-ranked Kimberly. Team needs a win over either Appleton North this week or Oshkosh West in the regular-season finale to automatically qualify for the playoffs. Next: Friday at Appleton North.

4. Berlin (5-2): Kewaskum upends Berlin in final minute 24-20 to force three-way tie atop East Central Conference with Plymouth, with all three teams at 4-1. Next: Friday at Waupun.

5. Campbellsport (4-3): Cougars drop a spot in the rankings after losing 42-13 to St. Mary's Springs on Friday. Team needs one more win to qualify for the postseason with games against Laconia this week and Lomira on Oct. 14. Next: Saturday at Laconia.

Others: Lourdes Academy (4-3), Laconia (4-3).
