Food Bank donation buys eggs

Dec. 12—The Food Bank of Eastern New Mexico recently received a donation of $10,000 from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico and plans on using the funds to buy tens of thousands of eggs.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield recently awarded more than $750,000 to 36 community organizations in New Mexico, according to its news release.

Food Bank Executive Director Dianna Sprague said the money will be used to buy and distribute nearly 65,000 eggs.

Sprague described eggs as a "low-cost, protein-packed superfood" and a staple.
