FOOD AND DRINK: Pancakes, corned beef, scones on the local menu during March

Mar. 2—The Hillstown Grange will hold its Spring Pancake Breakfast on Saturday from 8:30 to 11 a.m.

The meal will include pancakes, sausage, coffee, tea and juice, all for only $5; children 14 and under $3.

This month's special is warm Pistachio nut, maple-butter syrup pancakes. Plain and chocolate chip pancakes also be available.

The upstairs hall now has a library which has opened with a special area for reading, playing games, or just visiting with old friends. Books are available for a donation to the building fund.

Hillstown Grange is at 617 Hills Street in East Hartford.

Coventry: St Jude Council, 4313 Knights of Columbus will host a corned beef and cabbage family dinner at St. Mary Church Hall on 1600 Main Street on Saturday, March 11, from 5-6:30 p.m.

Enjoy corned beef and cabbage, red bliss potatoes, carrots, bread and butter, dessert, and coffee, tea, hot chocolate, or lemonade. Cost is $20 and tickets will be sold at the door.

—The Coventry Historical Society's annual Stew & Story will take place Thursday, March 16, at 6:30 p.m., Second Congregational Church Community House, 1746 Boston Turnpike.

The event is subtitled "A Walk Down Caprilands Memory Lane." Featured food will include a variety of homemade soups and stews, appetizers, breads, desserts, and drinks with some of the recipes coming from Adelma Grenier Simmons' Caprilands books.

Somers: The Congregational Church of Somersville, 22 Maple St., will serve a take-out corned beef supper, complete with cabbage, boiled potatoes, carrots, Irish soda bread, and chocolate torte, on Saturday March 11. Meals can be picked up between 4-6 p.m. Cost is $18 per meal.

Andover: A corned beef and cabbage dinner will be held at Andover Congregational Church, 359 Route 6, on Friday, March 17 from 5-7 p.m.

Take out or eat-in for $18, which includes dinner, drink, and dessert.

Enfield: Little Sisters of the Poor — St. Joseph's Residence will have its annual scone sale, to be held at St. Joseph's Residence 1365 Enfield Street, on Friday March 17.

Scones will be $3.00 each (they are large) and come in the following flavors: lemon, orange, and raisin.

West Hartford: The Noah Webster House and West Hartford Historical Society invites the public to celebrate St. Patrick's Day at the museum with a traditional dinner, drinks, and live music on March 17. Doors open at 5:30p.m.
