Food Network's 'Beat Bobby Flay' To Feature Fairfield Siblings

FAIRFIELD, CT — A pair of Fairfield siblings who both own restaurants in the area will go head-to-head this weekend for a chance to cook against celebrity chef Bobby Flay.

Lisa and Matt Storch will appear on Sunday evening’s new episode of “Beat Bobby Flay,” competing with each other in the first round to make the superior plate using a featured ingredient, before the winner goes up against Flay in a contest to create the best version of the finalist’s signature dish.

The Storch siblings may be family, but they have different culinary sensibilities. Lisa and her husband operate Catch A Healthy Habit, an all-organic, gluten-free eatery in Fairfield that specializes in vegetarian, vegan and raw food. Matt runs Match in Norwalk, offering upscale global fare, and Match Burger Lobster in Westport, which serves elevated road shack-style food.

Matt won an episode of “Chopped” in 2018, but Sunday’s episode, filmed last year, will be Lisa’s first appearance on national television.

“It was exciting, it was fun, it was a little nerve wracking,” Lisa said.

The siblings had hoped to hold a viewing party, but because of the social distancing protocols in place amid the new coronavirus outbreak, they decided to organize an online fundraiser instead. People can visit www.toasttab.com/match-restaurant/v3 to bet $15 on either Matt or Lisa winning the show. After the episode airs the losing sibling will provide a meal for 175 people at The Open Door Shelter in Norwalk using the bet money.

Both Lisa and Matt have adapted their restaurants to continue serving customers during the virus outbreak. Catch A Healthy Habit is offering delivery via Uber Eats as well as curbside pickup. The business also a few weeks ago began selling healthy groceries, available by order at emailcatchcafe@gmail.com.

Both Match and Match Burger Lobster are providing delivery through Grubhub and Uber Eats, and curbside pickup. Matt also recently started Match Provisions, a truck-side service that offers high-end kitchen staples like meat, cheese, wine and prepared food. “Beat Bobby Flay” airs 10 p.m. Sunday on the Food Network.
