Food truck rodeo wrangles delicious food into Dickinson
Sep. 23—DICKINSON — The Dickinson Food Truck Rodeo strolled into town today with a vast selection of tasty treats from 13 different trucks. It will be open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and will continue from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday behind Prairie Hills Mall.
The exciting event beckons Western Edge residents to saddle up and head for the Mall where they can enjoy food and indulge in family fun, with bounce houses for children on Saturday and Sunday.
It's the end of the line for this year's crispy roundup, which made seven other stops throughout the summer beginning in
Watford City.
General admission is $3 and children under 10 get in free.
"I'm excited to be in Dickinson, there's a lot going on this weekend," organizer Mike Schmitz said.
There will be different daily competitions amongst the chefs — topped off with a strip of bacon. Schmitz spent most of his childhood in Dickinson and said it always feels special to come back to his hometown with delicious food from all over the state.
Culinary offerings will range from county fair classics like cheese curds and mini donuts to more exotic offerings such as Filipino cuisine and deep fried green olives.
The Filipino offerings are provided by a food truck owned and managed by Taylor woman Rose Mcmurty, who said her favorite dish is her beef spring rolls
"I did the beef because some people don't eat pork. So I like to have one thing that everybody can have," she said
The Mall is also hosting the Dakota Flea Market Friday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will feature a wide array of baked goods, crafts, garage sale items and other treasures.
