FOOTBALL: Bemidji State on the bubble with newest release of regional rankings

Oct. 31—BEMIDJI — The Bemidji State football team is right on the bubble.

The Beavers were ranked No. 7 in Super Region Four with Monday's release of the latest regional rankings. BSU is one of six NSIC schools among the top 10 teams vying for seven NCAA Tournament spots.

Angelo State is the super region's only undefeated team at 9-0 and is ranked No. 1. Colorado Mines is No. 2, and then comes the string of NSIC competition.

Winona State is No. 3, Minnesota State is No. 4, Sioux Falls is No. 5, Wayne State is No. 6, and Bemidji State is No. 7.

No. 8 Texas A&M-Kingsville, No. 9 Augustana and No. 10 Central Washington round out this week's field.

The Beavers are coming off

a 34-15 road win over Southwest Minnesota State

on Saturday, their seventh victory in a row. Their resume also includes

a win over Winona State,

but BSU lost to

Minnesota State

and

Augustana

early in the season.

The top seven teams will earn berths to the NCAA Tournament. The NCAA selection show is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 13, online at www.ncaa.com.

BSU also garnered a few more points in the AFCA Coaches Poll on Monday. Bemidji State had eight points — up from one point last week — and is among the "others receiving votes." They have the 35th-most points in the country, while No. 24 Minnesota State and No. 25 Sioux Falls represent the NSIC among the top 25.
