Jeremy DeCaro

St. Joseph

(NOTE: He is listed last in order on the ballot below. Thank you)

The junior had a huge all-around game as the Falcons improved to 2-0 with a big win over Somerville. DeCaro had five carries for 110 yds and 3 TDs, while catching three passes for 110 yards and a score as the H-back. He also had six tackles (four solo) and defended a pass at outside linebacker.

Kyle Hall

Rahway

It would be understandable if Rahway came out flat against Lincoln playing just over 24 hours after learning that senior teammate Ali Muhammad unexpectedly died. Hall, though, provided a spark when he scooped up a fumble and bolted 68 yards for the score three minutes into the game. Rahway won 45-16 as Hall had 162 rushing yards on nine carries and two catches for 70 yards with four total touchdowns.

RJ Hart

Hunterdon Central

The junior quarterback is a big reason why the Red Devils (2-1) have already matched their win total for the last two years combined. Saturday, their resurgent season continued with a 28-21 win over Elizabeth. Hart threw for 211 yards (11-for-19) with three touchdowns and rushed for 92 yards and a score on 16 carries. Tied 21-21 in the fourth quarter, Hall’s 67-yard TD pass to Trevor Fisch gave Hunterdon Central the victory.

Old Bridge

Danny Hennessey

With the graduation of star running back Lawrence Hunter III, somebody needed to step up in Old Bridge’s backfield. The senior has emerged as the go-to back. Friday, he rushed for 140 yards on 24 carries and scored three times – twice in the fourth quarter – as the Knights beat South Brunswick 27-22. He has 307 rushing yards in three games this season.

Antonio Rivera

Piscataway

The senior had a couple highlight-film plays in Piscataway’s 19-14 win over Franklin. After dropping a punt in the first quarter, he scooped it up and darted 94 yards down the left sideline for a touchdown. He also scored the winning TD after breaking for a 52-yard score with 2:51 left. Rivera showed he's a good leader following a dropped potential interception by doing 25 pushups on the sideline as a self punishment for the missed play.

Aidan Sangiray

Dunellen

The junior is one of the weapons in Dunellen’ single-wing attack. In Friday’s 29-14 win over Highland Park, Sangiray rushed for 131 yards on 21 carries and scored a pair of touchdowns in the first half as the Destroyers earned the win. He took in a 14-yard run and finished a drive with a 1-yard run to boost Dunellen.

Michael Schmelzer

Montgomery

The junior has helped Montgomery to its first 3-0 start since 2007 and just the second in the program’s 22-year history. Saturday, the Cougars kept rolling in a 35-7 win at Plainfield as Schmelzer fired up 229 passing yards on a 12-for-20 day with touchdown passes of 59, 70 and 14 yards.

Tequan Thomas

Linden

In the preseason, Linden coach Al Chiola said that the quarterback is an exciting player to watch. The junior displayed his skills in the Tiger’s 31-0 win over Woodbridge by rushing for 140 yards on 17 carries and a score, while throwing a pair of touchdowns. Thomas finished 5-for-8 for 89 yards as Linden improved to 1-1.
