Football: Pahokee rides win over Palm Beach Central to the top of Class 1R poll

There's a new No. 1 in Class 1R and it's by a very narrow margin.

Pahokee, which beat Palm Beach Central 34-14 on Friday, received five of nine possible first-place votes to claim the top spot in the newest USA Today Florida Network poll.

Hawthorne, which remained undefeated with a 14-11 win at Orlando Christian Prep, received four first-place votes.

St. Thomas Aquinas (Class 3M), Miami Central (2M), Chaminade-Madonna (1M) and Lakeland (Class 4S) all were unanimous selections as the No. 1 team n their respective classes.

Class 1S had three teams receive first-place votes: Naples-First Baptist Academy (six votes), John Carroll Catholic (two) and Ocala-Trinity Catholic (one).
