FOOTBALL RESULTS: Big Central Conference and area roundup for Week 6

SATURDAY’S RESULTS

New Providence 20, Metuchen 0: QuarterbackJackson Zarinko ran for 106 yards and two touchdowns, hitting Matt Botvinis with an 11-yard TD pass, and New Providence improved to 4-3. Botvinis also logged two interceptions for the Pioneers, who earn their first shutout of the season. Metuchen felt to 2-5.

Pingry 34, King School 3: Michael Hollomon threw four touchdown passes and ran for another, and Rafferty Harris caught three TD passes and Pingry (2-4) snapped a three-game losing streak. Jason Weaver also caught a TD pass for the Big Blue, who got three pass deflections from Mason Vance on the defensive line.

FRIDAY’S RESULTS

Middlesex 7, Roselle Park 0: Dom Parenti’s two-yard second-quarter touchdown run proved all Middlesex (4-2) needed, as the Blue Jays defense did the rest to notch the shutout. Brian Mattox added the extra-point kick and Jacob Santiago picked up an interception in the win. The Panthers fell to 2-4.

Woodbridge 34, J.F. Kennedy 0: AJ Bosch ran in a pair of touchdowns, adding another on a catch, and Woodbridge had no trouble with its neighborhood rival. Antonio Rosato threw two TD passes for the Barrons (3-4), one to Bosch and another to Sincere Barner. Michael Darkwah also ran in a score in the win. The Mustangs fell to 0-7.

Hillsborough 29, Hunterdon Central 15: Jackson Jankowicz rushed for 107 yards and a score, adding a 92-yard touchdown return, and ripping off a 58-yard run to set up another Hillsborough TD and the Raiders improved to 5-1. Alex Reiling, who is filling in at quarterback for Boro for the injured Ryan Tasetano, threw a 74-yard touchdown pass to Zion Harrison on his first varsity toss. Dom Monsorno (8-46 rushing) also scored a TD on the ground for Hillsborough, adding a tackle in the end zone for a safety and an interception. Harrison and Jack O’Donnell also grabbed picks for the Raiders. Michael Carbo scored on a 22-yard run for Hunterdon Central (2-5), which also scored on a 32-yard TD pass from AJ Hart to Joseph Valentino.

Bernards 38, Bound Brook 0: Connor Laverty tossed three touchdown passes and Nicky Koulfie caught a 55-yard TD pass from Laverty and returned a kickoff for a touchdown and Bernards rolled to 5-1. Jake Caldwell caught two touchdown passes, adding a scoring toss on a 2-point conversion in the win. Terrence Hanratty added a TD run for the Mountaineers, who also notched a safety. Bound Brook is 0-6.

Manville 39, Belvidere 6: Shawn Purcell carried seven times for 152 and three rushing touchdowns, and Ethan Mullins returned the opening kickoff 81 yards for a score, later adding a 58-yard punt return for a score, and Manville rolled to 6-1. Na’Quavere Thomas scored on a 13-yard run for the Mustangs. Josh D’Ambrosio and Aleks Starzynski each notched an interception in the win. Mason Chamberlain scored on a 21-yard pass from Brayden Stefan for Belvidere (0-6).

Ridge 24, South Brunswick 7: Quarterback Jack Berisha rushed for two touchdowns, and Will Deady finished with 96 yards and a score and Ridge handled South Brunswick in a BCC crossover. Asgrimur Gudmundsson connected on a 19-yard field goal for the Red Devils (4-2) and went 3-for-3 on extra points. South Brunswick fell to 3-3.

Roselle 41, Ridgefield Park 35: Reigning Player of the Week Emmanuel Lyles had another massive game for Roselle, rushing 17 times for 282 yards and four touchdowns and the Rams won their second straight to improve to 2-4. Nafee Finney also had a big day for Roselle returning a punt 50 yards for a score and returning an interception 60 yards for a touchdown.

South Plainfield 33, Voorhees 19: Joe Tiffery-Moroney threw two touchdown passes, and Zach Bolestra caught a 51-yard scoring strike to open the game, later adding a 67-yard scoring run and South Plainfield remained undefeated. A.J. Parales caught a TD pass in the win, while Patrick Smith scored on a 31-*yard run and Mark Molinaro returned a fumble 44 yards for the Tigers (6-0). Mickey Tramutola scored on a pair of TD runs for Voorhees (3-3), which also got a 54-yard scoring pass from Justin Wistuba to Like Hufford in the final quarter.

Watchung Hills 31, Plainfield 22: Dylan Kelly ran in two touchdowns, adding a scoring pass to Jack Clintock, and Watchung Hills posted its third straight win, moving to 5-2. Niro Garcia added a rushing score for the Warriors, while Riley McCann went 4-for-4 kicking PATs, adding a 40-plus-yard field goal in the win. Plainfield is 1-5.

Phillipsburg 28, Bridgewater-Raritan 13: John Wargo, Jett Genovese and Xavier Moore each scored rushing touchdowns, and Matt Scerbo returned a fumble for a score, as Phillipsburg shook off a slow start, erasing an early deficit and improving to 6-0. Nick Catena scored on a 27-yard run to open the scoring for Bridgewater-Raritan (2-5), before Antione Hinton added a fumble recovery for a score for the Panthers.

Immaculate Conception 16, Immaculata 7: Cameron Chadwick scored on an 84-yard kickoff return in the fourth quarter, tying the game for Immaculata, but Montclair Immaculate pulled away in the second half to send the Spartans to 2-4. Jaxon Laub grabbed an interception for Immaculata, while Luke Laub recovered a fumble.

Delaware Valley 48, South River 0: Patrick Garlinghouse ran in two touchdowns, and Jack Bill threw two touchdown passes and Delaware Valley cruised to 5-1. Nick Catino and Enzo Britez caught scoring tosses from Bill, while Jake Small and Justin Collmer each returned interceptions for scores. Ben Cobb also scored a rushing TD for the Terriers. South River is 2-4.

Colonia 24, Perth Amboy 14: Jaeden Jones threw two touchdown passes and ran in another, and Patrick Miller scored on the ground and added a 25-yard catch and Colonia moved to 6-1. Aiden Derkack also caught a TD pass in the win. Angel Alvarado rushed for 104 yards and a score, and Lavion Balthazar also ran one into the end zone for the Panthers (2-4).

Hillside 33, AL Johnson 7: Caleb Salters threw three touchdown passes and Hillside scored 33 unanswered points after an early 7-0 deficit and the Comets moved to 5-1, clinching the Patriot Silver Division title with the win. Marcus White, Darvens Tunis and Al-Jamir Davis all caught TD passes in the win, while Mu Parkman and Kyon Simonson ran touchdowns for Hillside. Emilio Menicucci scored on a 77-yard first-quarter run, but it wasn’t enough for A.L. Johnson (4-2).

Westfield 37, Somerville 0: Dylan Wragg scored two rushing touchdowns and Henry Hipschman kicked a 25-yard field goal and went 4-for-5 kicking PATs as Westfield improved to 5-1. Peter Del Re caught a 76-yard TD pass from Tre Brown in the first quarter, and Aidan Harper got into the end zone on a fourth-quarter run for the Blue Devils. Quinn Wojcik also returned an interception for a Westfield score. Somerville fell to 2-5.

Cranford 28, Scotch Plains-Fanwood 0: Liam Godwin threw for 73 yards and rushed 15 times for 106 yards and a touchdown, and Ryan Lynskey collected 92 rushing yards and two scores to propel Cranford (4-2). Shane Kanterman also scored on the ground for the Cougars, finishing with 71 yards. Godwin also pitched in an interception and was 4-for-4 kicking PATs in the win. Dylan Jones notched a sack. Scotch Plains-Fanwood tumbled to 1-6.

Brearley 32, Highland Park 0: Brendan Fitzsimmons ran in three touchdowns, adding two runs for 2-point conversions and a conversion run and Brearley remained undefeated. Alex Chuley got the Bears (6-0) going with an eight-yard TD run in the first quarter. Highland Park is 0-7.

Summit 28, Linden 14: Ryan Schnall ran 13 times for 141 yards, adding a 32-yard reception, and Jake Lowry posted 89 yards on 12 carries and two touchdowns to boost Summit to its third straight win after an 0-3 start. Carter Shallcross pitched in 63 rushing yards and a score for the Hilltoppers (3-3), while Joe Fagan paced the defense with 11 tackles. Seamus Browne kicked two field goals in the win, including a 34-yarder, adding a 2-for-2 night kicking extra points. Linden falls to 3-3.

Union 41, Elizabeth 7: O’Malley King threw two touchdown passes and ran in another, and Elijah Stewart carried three balls into the end zone on runs of 24, 31 and 58 yards, and Union exploded for the lopsided win. Omar Ibrahim hauled in a 75-yard TD pass from King in the second quarter for the Farmers (2-4), who had averaged just 13 points per game through five contests. Vito Tropeano scored on a four-year run for Elizabeth (2-4).
