Week 10

Dalton 47, Chippewa 7

Dalton had no problem with Chippewa, clinching a share of a second WCAL title in a row and its fourth in the past six seasons.

The Bulldogs were very balanced, passing for 203 yards and rushing for 215 more in the win.

QB Colin Pearson had an efficient night, going 11-for-13 for 203 yards and three scores. Two of those TD tosses went to Cade Mullet, who finished his night with 81 yards. Greyson Siders also had another big game, only needing eight carries to go for 104 yards and two TDs.

Villa Angela-St. Joseph 41, Wooster 7

Wooster needed a win to make the playoffs for the fifth straight season, but VASJ had other plans. The Generals offense kept running into roadblocks as the Vikings spoiled the playoff bid.

Hayden Meese scored Wooster's lone touchdown on a 45-yard run in the fourth quarter, but otherwise points were tough to by as the Generals put up 232 yards of total offense.

Michael Howman-Williams led Wooster with 60 rushing yards and AJ Likowski added 52 yards on the ground while throwing for 69 yards.

VASJ back Amani Powell rushed for 168 yards and two TDs on 12 carries.

Norwayne 38, Smithville 0

A steady diet of big plays and tough defense led Norwayne to a win over Smithville.

Norwayne averaged 8.5 yards per play and had three scoring plays of 38 yards or more as it limited the Smithies.

Jake Gill and Eli Stanley were at the center of Norwayne's playmaking, with Gill rushing for 146 yards, including a 38-yard TD run, and Stanley doing it as both a runner and a passer. Stanley threw for 171 yards and two scores and rushed for 87 yards, including a 46-yard TD.

Roman Portis (4 catches, 81 yards) caught Stanley's longest TD pass — a 42-yard pass in the fourth quarter that finished off Norwayne's scoring. Lucas Dudte also caught a 10-yard TD from Stanley and Jay Hanzie added a one-yard scoring run. Hayden Ringle kicked a 20-yard field goal as well.

Norwayne led 14-0 at the end of the first quarter and the final result was never in jeopardy after that.

Smithville's Mason Haines had another impressive performance to finish off one of the best freshman regular seasons in Wayne County this year, rushing for 115 yards on 24 carries in defeat.

Hillsdale 42, Rittman 7

The Falcons picked up another win to finish the WCAL season with only two losses.

Rittman's Artie Sonego picked up 123 rushing yards, including a 93-yard TD run, in the loss.
