Football Roundup: Dos Palos knocks off Chowchilla, Golden Valley routs Buhach Colony

Drake Hennagan scored two third-quarter touchdowns to lead a second-half comeback for the Dos Palos High School football team in a 29-21 victory over Chowchilla at Henry Massaro Stadium on Friday night.

The Tribe (3-2) took a 15-12 lead at the half behind a strong defensive effort and a 28-yard touchdown run by quarterback Davian Stephenson.

The Broncos dominated the third quarter as quarterback Peyton Van Worth connected with Hennagan on a 42-yard touchdown pass. Hennagan added a 20-yard touchdown run to give Dos Palos a 26-15 lead.

Broncos running back Andre Flores added 140 yards rushing a touchdown on 28 carries.

Golden Valley 43, Buhach Colony 0 — Cougars quarterback Austin Mello hooked up with senior receiver Jonah White on three touchdown passes as Golden Valley blew out the Thunder at Veterans Stadium.

Buhach Colony dropped to 0-2 in the Central California Conference and 0-6 overall.

Golden Valley bounced back from a loss to Merced to improve to 1-1 in the CCC and 4-2 overall.

Tyrrell Johnson, Deavon Williams and Lamare Beard all added rushing touchdowns for the Cougars.

Patterson 47, El Capitan 0 — The Gauchos were shutout for the third consecutive week as they dropped to 0-2 in the CCC and 3-3 overall.

Tigers quarterback Max Medina threw three touchdown passes. Patterson improved to 1-0 in the CCC and 5-0 overall.

The Tigers will host Merced next week.

Los Banos 45, Davis 6 — Tigers quarterback David Herrera and running back Joel Alvarenga both topped 100 yards to lead Los Banos past the Spartans.

Herrera ran for 121 yards and a touchdown and also threw for two scores. Alvarenga tacked on 127 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Raul Diaz added a 73-yard kickoff return for a touchdown for Los Banos (2-0 Western Athletic Conference, 5-1 overall).

Le Grand 41, Waterford 28 — Reyes Diaz caught two of his three touchdown catches in the second half as the Bulldogs erased an eight-point halftime deficit.

Diaz finished with four catches for 127 yards. Diego Martinez tossed all three touchdowns to Diaz.

Le Grand running back Alexis Granados added 188 rushing yards and a touchdown on 28 carries.

The Bulldogs defense set the stage for the second-half comeback as both Eric Oseguera and Ricky Garcia forced fumbles that led to touchdowns.

Le Grand improved to 1-1 in the Southern League and 4-1 overall.

Amador 34, Stone Ridge Christian 14 — The Knights lost their first game of the season, dropping to 5-1.

Stone Ridge Christian senior Sawyer Wood hauled in touchdown passes for Mario Perez and running back DJ O’neil for the Knights’ two scores.
