Football: All-state picks are out for Class AA and A; Matt Fitzsimons is co-POTY

After leading Somers back to a NYSPHSAA title game and coming home with a championship, Tuskers quarterback Matt Fitzsimons has been selected Co-New York State Player of the Year in Class A by the New York State Sportswriters Association. The senior completed 74% of his passes last fall, throwing for 2,281 yards and 31 touchdowns. Fitzsimons also ran for 11 touchdowns during an undefeated season.

Somers offensive lineman Jake Polito and kicker Luke Savino also made the first-team in Class A along with Pelham defensive lineman Luke Green.

Iona Prep quarterback Ajani Sheppard, Carmel running back Nick Rosaforte, Stepinac defensive lineman Wayne Coleman and Iona Prep linebacker Zyian Moultri-Goddard were first-team picks in Class AA.
