Ford is recalling almost a half million crossovers including the 2015-2018 Ford Edge and the 2016-2018 Lincoln MKX. The vehicles have a front brake jounce hose that can rupture and leak brake fluid. That would increase pedal travel and stopping distance, increasing the risk of a crash.

The front brake jounce hose is little rubber hose that connects the metal brake line to the brake caliper.

The brake warning light is operational, according to Ford, so you will know if this is happening in your vehicle. Ford also says it’s unaware of any accidents related to this problem. Any dealer can quickly replace the hose with a properly working one made of a different material.

There are two other recalls from the Blue Oval, one for the Lincoln Corsair and one for the 2020 Ford F-150. The Corsair is being recalled for “insufficient clearance between the left and right rear coil springs and toe link bracket.” This could cause corrosion and possible fracturing. The fix here is a trimmed toe link bracket edge and a new spring coil. Just 2,965 Corsairs are affected.

On the F-150 side, 431 are being recalled for an improper nut attachment between a battery cable and starter motor. According to Ford this can lead to heat generation while the vehicle is starting, increasing the risk of a fire. Like the other two, the dealer will fix this for free. This repair will replace the nut attachment.

Check out NHTSA’s recall site for details or call Ford customer service to see if your vehicle is affected under the recall.
