FORECAST: Code Red Air Quality Alert to be issued Wednesday
Air quality forecast
Code Orange and Red alerts are in effect for Wednesday.
The Code Red alert covers much of central North Carolina, including Charlotte.
A Code Red Air Quality Alert affects everyone. Consider limiting prolonged or heavy exertion outdoors.
Anyone sensitive to air pollution, including people with asthma, should avoid outdoor exertion altogether.
This is all due to smoke from Canadian wildfires that have been entrenched in North Carolina.
Our next rain chance is late Wednesday ahead of a cold front.
The rain is expected to be widespread with limited severe risk.
The rain clears out by Thursday with great weather into the weekend.
Smoke will continue to impact North Carolina on both Thursday and Friday
