FORECAST: Code Red Air Quality Alert to be issued Wednesday

  • A Code Red Air Quality Alert affects everyone. Consider limiting prolonged or heavy exertion outdoors.

  • Anyone sensitive to air pollution, including people with asthma, should avoid outdoor exertion altogether.

  • This is all due to smoke from Canadian wildfires that have been entrenched in North Carolina.

  • Our next rain chance is late Wednesday ahead of a cold front.

  • The rain is expected to be widespread with limited severe risk.

  • The rain clears out by Thursday with great weather into the weekend.

  • Smoke will continue to impact North Carolina on both Thursday and Friday
