School District Updates:
Avery County Schools will be closed with an optional teacher workday on Friday in anticipation of snow.
Ashe County Schools will operate on a remote learning day on Friday.
Watauga County Schools will operate on an inclement weather remote learning day on Friday,
FORECAST:
A line of strong storms moved across the region that brought heavy rain, lightning, and strong winds. Hail was also reported in the area.
The system pushed east in the early evening.
There is a winter storm warning for Avery County.
In the lower elevations, it will be clear and cold this weekend in the Charlotte area.
Saturday’s high will be in the mid-40s.
Temps will break the 50-degree mark on Sunday.
