FORECAST:
Our conditions will continue to improve throughout Sunday evening.
Light showers south of Interstate 40 are possible.
Across the mountains, there is still the potential for additional snow and ice accumulation. 1 to 3 inches of snow are possible and an additional 1/10th of an inch of ice is possible.
For the metro, there’s not a huge concern for ice on the roads because temperatures will remain in the upper 30s overnight into Monday.
A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for areas above 3,500 feet. Roads will be slick across the mountain zones.
We’ll be back to the 60s Monday with sunshine.
Winter Storm Warnings are in place for Ashe, Avery and Watauga counties for big snows coming in tomorrow. Winter Weather Advisory for northern Burke and Caldwell. The heaviest snow will be at the higher elevations (maybe up to a foot in spots!) Lower snow totals farther east. pic.twitter.com/ITeXcswEv9
