FORECAST:
A complex storm system will make its way into our area tonight bringing rain, snow, and ice into our DMA
Chances for seeing snow in Charlotte are low.
Areas above 3,500 ft across the mountains are currently under a Winter Storm Warning. Winter Weather Advisory for areas below 3,500 ft. These are areas north of Interstate 40.
Models are still scattered on how much snow and ice the higher elevations will receive.
Rain will linger in the greater Charlotte area through midafternoon Sunday.
Sunday morning’s drive will be messy with a threat for ice on the roads.
Winter Storm Warnings are in place for Ashe, Avery and Watauga counties for big snows coming in tomorrow. Winter Weather Advisory for northern Burke and Caldwell. The heaviest snow will be at the higher elevations (maybe up to a foot in spots!) Lower snow totals farther east. pic.twitter.com/ITeXcswEv9

Snow totals will vary across the high country. Highest elevations see between 6-8" or more (maybe a foot up at ski resort level.) Lower elevations see about 2-4", higher amounts on hilltops and lower in the valleys. The northern foothills may see snow mixing in with no accum. pic.twitter.com/9vRV45g2Bx

While it will be cold tomorrow, it won't be cold enough for it to really snow in the metro. There will be colder air aloft in the atmosphere, but temps remain above freezing down below. So any snow melts as it falls, but if it's heavy enough some transition is possible. No accum. pic.twitter.com/Er0Gy1bikA
