Foreign Fighters, Including Australian and Georgian, Filmed With Ukraine Forces in Sievierodonetsk

Foreign fighters from Georgia, France, Australia, Brazil, and other countries were pictured fighting on the front line in the eastern Ukrainian city of Sievierodonetsk in footage uploaded on June 6.

Footage released by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) shows foreign legion fighters traveling to Sievierodonetsk as plumes of smoke waft over the city.

“I think since coming here, it’s been amazing how many people from all around the world have come together to help out a country in need,” one fighter said, “I’m from Australia. It’s quite far away, quite hard to get here, and even I’ve stepped up. So hopefully I inspire more people to come and do the same thing.”

Another fighter from Georgia said he thought it was the right thing to do, adding “we’re going to push the Russians back. It’s going to take a day, a month, or a year, it doesn’t f*****g matter. We’re on the right side of history so we’re going to make sure all the folks are going to get back home with their families.”

- I think it's fantastic. I think it's an opportunity. I think, since coming here, it's been amazing how many people from all around the world have come together to help out a country in need. I feel like it's really, really inspirational to have a lot of these guys with previous experience to actually lend their hand and step up and volunteer. So I'm from Australia. It's quite far away but hard to get here. And even I stepped up. So hopefully, I inspire more people to come and do the same thing. Yeah.

- OK, American, come.

- Which country?

- It's a war for Georgians, as well. I'm just 20-year-old kid. And I felt that's the right thing to do. And we're going to push Russians back. It's going to take a day, month, or a year, it doesn't [BLEEP] matter. We're on the right side of the history. So we're going to make sure all of us are going to get back home with their families and make sure that occupants are not going to do the same.
