WEST PALM BEACH – A Forest Hill High School student was rushed to a hospital this afternoon after falling from a stairwell, school district officials said.

The campus was briefly locked down after the student’s fall while rescue workers attended to their injuries and took them to the hospital.

Principal Esther Rivera alerted parents that the student “was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries” and that counselors were available to speak with students about the incident.

A school district spokeswoman confirmed the student had fallen from an outdoor stairwell. She said no other students were involved but said she could not release further details, citing student privacy protections.

Clarification: An earlier version of this story said the student fell down a stairwell. The school district later clarified that the student fell from it.
