Forest Lake: Woman dies after rollover crash on I-35
A Forest Lake woman died following a rollover crash on Interstate 35 on Sunday afternoon near Forest Lake.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a Toyota Yaris driven by Alexis Haylee Covey, 60, of Forest Lake, sideswiped an Acura TSX sedan as both were traveling south near U.S. Highway 8 around 4:20 p.m. Sunday.
Covey was airlifted to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, where she later died. According to the accident report, she was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the Acura TSX, Gina Olson, 45, of Hugo, was not hurt; she was wearing a seatbelt, according to the report.
Covey was traveling in the left lane behind Olson’s Acura TCX when she “swerved from the left lane into the right lane and upon returning to the left lane struck the rear end of the Acura TCX, causing both vehicles to roll over and come to a stop in the median.”
