Forest Park woman killed in head-on school bus crash in Liberty Township
The Butler County Sheriff's Office has identified a woman killed in a crash involving a school bus in Liberty Township Monday.
According to a release from the sheriff's office, Forest Park resident Debra A. Halsey, 61, was driving a 2019 Chevrolet Cruze, when she crossed the double yellow line eastbound on Millikin Road.
Halsey struck a westbound Lakota Local School District school bus head-on near Fieldstone Farms Boulevard. Police responded to the crash site at about 10:45 a.m. and she was pronounced dead at the scene by Liberty Township emergency medical personnel.
The 2020 International school bus had no passengers and was only occupied by the driver, who did not report any injuries at the scene, the release said.
It is unclear at this time as to why or what caused the Chevrolet Cruze to cross into the path of the school bus. The crash is being investigated by th'se Butler County Sheriff's Office traffic investigations unit and the serious traffic accident reconstruction team.
