Forest Whitaker kicked off his new year with the sale of not one, but two Hollywood Hills homes. The Academy Award winner originally listed his Los Angeles compound back in 2017 for $6 million, but lowered the asking price down to $4.3 million, and then to $3.995 million, over the last two years. Now, it has finally sold for $3.85 million, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Situated on more than 1.6 acres, the two homes share a security gate, a swimming pool, and spa, but each has its own entrance, driveway, and mailing address. The larger of the pair is a 4,705-square-foot Mediterranean villa–style house featuring five bedrooms, four bathrooms, and a loft gallery. Originally built in the 1990s, the style of the home remains largely indicative of the decade, with lots of white walls, polished hardwood floors, and terraces throughout. The living and dining areas are open plan, and the kitchen features a center island and a walk-in pantry. Upstairs, the master suite has its own corner fireplace and sitting area, a walk-in closet, and a master bathroom with a deep-soaking tub and separate glass-enclosed shower. Other amenities include a game room with a Ping-Pong table and a home office.
The second of the two homes is slightly smaller, spanning 1,999 square feet spread across three floors. The interiors are slightly more modern, with white walls and carpet for a brighter aesthetic. It features five bedrooms and five and a half bathrooms, two living rooms, a dining area, and a bonus room. A balcony on the third floor overlooks the property’s grounds, while a set of French doors off the main living space opens out onto an enclosed patio. In addition to the pool and spa, the smaller home also features a built-in barbecue grill and various outdoor dining and seating areas. The Black Panther star and his wife, Keisha Whitaker (from whom he filed for divorce last year), bought both properties for just under $2 million back in 2003, according to records.
