From Delish

Though Kelis has let us in on what it takes to make the perfect milkshake since the peak of her dairy treat-related fame, she's now onto perfecting something a little different: sauces.

Over the past few years, the classically French-trained saucier and chef not only launched a sauce line, but she also gave fans an incredible cookbook filled with cultural recipes, an album titled Food (in which the majority of the track titles are, of course, meals), and now—as of this month—a new class dedicated to teaching the world about the makings of a good sauce.

The Creative Kitchen is "a sauce-focused cooking class," Kelis, who graduated from Le Cordon Bleu in 2008, told Delish of the Skillshare collaboration, "but it's also about helping people find their creativity in the kitchen through sauce. I'm really excited about it." Sauces, by the way, include (but are not limited to!) dressings, gravies, vinaigrettes, and so much more.

If you are still stuck on the "Milkshake" of it all (which, come on, guys!), know that Kelis chose sauce-making very intentionally as the subject of her classes because it's her true specialty, as well as "what [she enjoys] making the most." On top of that? "[Sauces are] the defining factor between all of us; it's the thing that sort of determines where you're at culturally and geographically."

After having spoken to Kelis via an interview opp from Skillshare, I can 100 percent confirm her passion is the real deal. If you were wondering what type of advice she gives in regards to making the perfect sauce (no matter what it might be!), it is to double down on seasoning. TL;DR? Do not skip the salt.

"There's not just one ingredient that you need, but I do think the most important seasoning is salt. And it has to be a good salt," she told Delish: "I think so often people are afraid of salt, so either they go ham and salt way too much or they don't add enough. Finding the perfect balance is important. And having a good quality salt that's not going to raise your blood pressure [is crucial...it has to do] what it's supposed to do: enhance all of the other flavors."
