Former Alabama football quarterback Jalen Hurts is headed to the Super Bowl.

Hurts, now with the Philadelphia Eagles, punched his ticket to Super Bowl LVII with Sunday's 31-7 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Philadelphia.

He will be the first Alabama quarterback to start a Super Bowl since Ken Stabler in 1977, when his Oakland Raiders defeated the Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl XI.

Hurts was at Alabama from 2016-18, starting his freshman and sophomore seasons before Tua Tagovailoa took over when Hurts was a junior. He was part of two SEC championship teams and won one national championship. In his three seasons, he passed for 5,626 yards with 48 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while rushing for 1,976 yards and 23 more scores.

He transferred to Oklahoma for his senior season, passing for 3,851 yards with 38 touchdowns and two interceptions while rushing for 1,298 yards and 20 more scores.

Against the 49ers, Hurts completed 15 of 25 pass attempts for 121 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions. He scored a rushing touchdown and ran for 39 yards on 11 carries.

Hurts is now 16-1 as a starter for the Eagles this season. Going into the game, he had passed for 3,855 yards with 24 touchdowns and six interceptions. He had also amassed 760 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns on 165 carries.

Hurts won't be the only former Alabama football player with the Eagles in the Super Bowl. Other former Crimson Tide players on the Philadelphia roster are starting guard Landon Dickerson, starting wideout DeVonta Smith and backup cornerback Josh Jobe. Smith caught two passes for 36 yards vs. San Francisco in a game where the Eagles built an early lead and relied on their run game.

Auburn will be represented in the Super Bowl by a pair of backup tackles, the Eagles' Jack Driscoll and Prince Tega Wanogho of the Kansas City Chiefs. Punter Arryn Siposs of Auburn is on the Eagles roster on the reserve/injured list.
