Former Arlington basketball coach charged with sex crimes; police searching for more victims

ARLINGTON COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — The Arlington County Police Department (ACPD) is investigating a former high school basketball coach who has been charged with sexually-based offenses.

George Porcha, 53, of Winterville, N.C. has been charged with Carnal Knowledge of a Minor and Taking Indecent Liberties with Children.

Police began investigating in October 2022 after receiving information about possible offenses by Porcha involving minors that occurred between 2000 and 2003. At the time, he was a girls’ basketball coach at Washington-Liberty High School, which was named Washington-Lee High School at the time.

Warrants were issued in January 2023 for offenses involving two women who were, at the time, juveniles and students at the high school.

Police are asking other possible victims to come forward.
