Ukrainian football legend Andriy Shevchenko will likely become the president of the Ukrainian Association of Football (UAF) as he is the sole candidate for the position, the UAF’s press service reported on Dec. 27.

The decision looks to be a foregone conclusion as Shevchenko's candidacy is supported by all UAF members who have the right to nominate candidates for president.

The UAF dedicated committee concluded that Andriy Shevchenko's candidacy meets the requirements and criteria set by the UAF's charter for presidential candidates.

The UAF noted that it had received a letter from the 47-year-old former best player in the world and national team coach expressing his willingness to participate in the presidential election.
