Wide receiver John Ross III, the Cincinnati Bengals' first-round draft pick (ninth overall) in the 2017 NFL Draft, plans to begin meeting with teams for workouts or visits in about one month, according to a report Saturday night via Twitter from ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

Fowler added that Ross' agent said several teams have remained in contact about the free agent.

Ross had 11 receptions for 224 yards with a touchdown in 10 games for the New York Giants last season. He missed action early in the season because of a hamstring injury, and he's still recovering from a knee injury he suffered later in the season.

Ross signed with the Giants in March 2021 after the Bengals declined to pick up his fifth-year option. He had 51 catches for 733 yards with 10 touchdowns over four seasons in Cincinnati.

The Bengals selected Ross one pick before the Kansas City Chiefs selected quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the 2017 draft. Ross had run a 40-yard dash in 4.22 seconds at the NFL Combine.

Ross' best season as a Bengal came in 2019 with a career-high 28 receptions and 506 receiving yards. He ranked third in the NFL in receiving yards through the first three weeks of that season before missing eight weeks with a sternoclavicular injury.
