Former Boys & Girls Clubs official to speak at Albany Tech program

Apr. 19—ALBANY — Albany Technical College will host the TEAAMS Monthly Empowerment Session and Recognition Ceremony on Thursday from 10-11 a.m. at the college's Logistics Education Auditorium.

Marvin Laster will speak at the event. This session is part of the college's Teaching, Empowering African Americans to Succeed initiative designed to provide African American males with fundamental skills to help them succeed and persist through internal and external challenges.

Laster is a 2000 graduate of Albany State University. In 2007, the Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation named him the inaugural winner of its Inclusion Champion award for his efforts to promote full inclusion of youths with disabilities in society.

Before returning to Albany in 2015, Laster held several leadership positions at Boys & Girls Clubs of America's national headquarters in Atlanta. Prior to his appointment in 2016 as the Chief Executive Officer for Boys & Girls Clubs of Albany, he served one year as the organization's assistant CEO.
