Former A.C. Moore in Mount Laurel to house new vaccine mega-site

MOUNT LAUREL — Burlington County will open a new version of its COVID-19 vaccine mega-site on Tuesday inside a former A.C. Moore store.

The site, located at the East Gate Square shopping center on Nixon Drive, will vaccinate people ages 12 and up who haven't received a shot, adults eligible for a booster, and children ages 5-11 using a lower dose and smaller needles. Health insurance isn't required.

"In partnership with Burlington County, the New Jersey National Guard and Virtua Health, this new mega-site offers a centralized location to provide vaccines and booster doses for all who are eligible with the ability to scale up as needed," New Jersey Department of Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli said. "During this holiday season, as people travel and gather with family and friends, it is critical to remain vigilant against COVID-19 and its variants by getting vaccinated if you are not already or getting a booster shot to protect yourself and your loved ones."

For those looking to get a booster shot, the site will primarily provide the Pfizer vaccine. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevent (CDC) have authorized "mixing and matching" vaccines for the booster if necessary. Additionally, those receiving their second or third dose are encouraged to bring their vaccination record card so it can be updated.

The mega-site will be open Tuesday through Saturday, with hours of operation varying by day. Appointments are strongly encouraged as walk-up vaccinations are limited.
