Former Charlotte mayor eyed for White House job

A former Charlotte mayor who went on to serve as U.S. transportation secretary is once again being eyed for a high-profile post in Washington, D.C., according to Axios.

President Joe Biden is said to be considering Anthony Foxx to lead the White House Office of Public Engagement.

He would replace Cedric Richmond, who is expected to step down from that role this month, The New York Times reported last week.

The job involves working at the local, state and national levels to bring community leaders, diverse perspectives and new voices to the table, according to the White House.
