Former Chicago top cop Eddie Johnson sued, accused of sexual assault

Former Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson was accused of sexually harassing and raping an officer in a lawsuit filed late Wednesday.

The 31-page suit alleged that Johnson subjected Officer Cynthia Donald to verbal harassment, texted her images of himself naked and forced her to have sex with him.

The court papers, filed in Cook County Circuit Court, said Johnson berated Donald when she resisted his advances.

Last December, Johnson was fired from his post leading Chicago police and accused of lying about an embarrassing incident in which he dozed off behind the wheel of his city-issued SUV, allegedly after drinking.

Donald had been with Johnson earlier in the October 2019 night that he fell asleep in the vehicle, according to the suit.

The Chicago Tribune reported that Johnson’s lawyer, Tom Needham, said the 61-year-old former top cop “adamantly” denies any accusations of sexual misconduct.

Donald began working for the Chicago Police Department in November 2006 and was assigned to be Johnson’s personal driver in 2016, according to the suit.

The suit alleged that, in a 2016 incident, Johnson performed unwanted oral sex on Donald and told her, “now you know you belong to me.”
