Former Clemson running back Lyn-J Dixon to transfer to Tennessee football

Tennessee has a new running back in Lyn-J Dixon to fill a thin position group.

On Wednesday, Dixon announced on Instagram that he will transfer to UT. He played four seasons at Clemson and spent the spring at West Virginia.

He visited campus this week after the Vols announced running back Len'Neth Whitehead had suffered a season-ending injury.

Dixon rushed for 1,420 yards and 13 touchdowns over four seasons at Clemson, transferred to West Virginia in November and then entered the transfer portal again in June.

Dixon graduated from Clemson in December, and this will be his second transfer since then. Presumably, he will be eligible to play this season and help the Vols immediately. But UT cannot comment about his status until he enrolls.

UT needed depth at running back, where it had only four scholarship players.

Jabari Small, the returning starter, rushed for 792 yards and nine TDs last season. Jaylen Wright rushed for 409 yards and four TDs. Freshmen Justin Williams-Thomas and Dylan Sampson round out the group.
