Former Colts center Jeff Saturday part of Hoosier Burn Camp's Visitor's Day

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — After a two-year hiatus brought on by the pandemic, the Hoosier Burn Camp brings back the annual Visitor’s Day, free and open to the public on Wednesday.

The events include an appearance by a favorite former Indianapolis Colts player Jeff Saturday.

Visitor’s Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Camp Tecumseh on 12635 W. Tecumseh Bend Road in Brookston, Ind.

“We welcome visitors back to camp with open arms,” said Mark Koopman, executive director of Hoosier Burn Camp.

“It feels tremendous, To normalize what our normal camp week looks like, for our children to have full participation and all of the activities," Koopman said. "To truly be able to share the narrative and the story of the great work that we inspire to empress upon on our adolescent burn survivors. Just gratitude for all of the folks that allowed us to maintain this program and help our burn survivors realize their full potential.”

For those interested in attending the event, organizers have planned several guest appearances and experiences for the public.

Two notable guests that will be making an appearance at Visitor’s Day, will be former Colts player Saturday, now an ESPN commentator, and his wife Karen.

The camp will also be hosting the landing of military aircraft, more than 250 motorcycles, and numerous fire department staff and apparatus.

There will also be several activities for the whole family, such as bumper cars, a vertical climbing wall, a zipline across the lake, the Boilermaker Express, and much more.

Here’s a list of activities organizers have planned:

  • 50 Ft Climbing Tower

  • Little Obie Train

  • Bullet slide – 100 Ft. self-enclosed flume

  • Helicopter – Lifeline

  • Face painting

  • Volleyball, Soccer, Tetherball, 9 Square

  • Dairy Queen - Delphi

  • Therapy dogs

  • Blue – Indianapolis Colts Mascot

  • Decatur Township Fire Mascot Bounce House

  • Motorcycles – Multiple chapters from around Indiana

  • Indianapolis Colts Ring of Honor – Jeff Saturday

  • Movie Screen Showing Harry Potter Movies

  • Giant Games

  • Boilermaker Special
