Former Coronavirus Epicentre Wuhan Celebrates New Year's Eve With Large Crowds

Hundreds of people filled the streets in Wuhan, China, the former epicentre of the coronavirus pandemic, to celebrate New Year’s Eve with the mass release of balloons.

In this footage, revellers are seen counting down the end of 2020, with the city’s tall buildings changing colours to mark the moment.

Wuhan was subjected to a hard lockdown to contain the virus between January and April 2020.
