Former Disney Channel star Kyle Massey faces a felony charge of immoral communication with a minor after allegedly sending an explicit video to a 13-year-old girl.
The actor, known for his role as Cory Baxter in the hit show “That’s So Raven,” and “Cory in the House,” was supposed to be arraigned on Monday for a felony communicating with a minor for immoral purposes charge, but failed to show up.
In 2019, a 13-year-old girl sued Massey, now 29 after he allegedly sent her explicit text messages, along with photos and videos. Two years after the suit was filed, charges were filed against Massey on June 14 in King County, Wash., for the same accusations.
The plaintiff’s lawsuit said she was 4 years old when she met Massey. She kept up a relationship with him in the hopes of pursuing an acting career.
In November of 2018, the girl communicated with Massey about auditioning for a role for a reboot of “Cory in the House.” In that conversation, Massey allegedly was made aware that she was in the eight grade.
Between December 2018 and January 2019, Massey allegedly sent her pornographic content.
“No child should ever be exposed to sexually explicit materials and I unequivocally and categorically deny any alleged misconduct,” Massey said in a statement through his attorney Lee A. Hutton III.
“In early 2019, Plaintiff’s attorneys demanded $1.5M threatening to go public to destroy my career if I did not comply. My family and I rejected this extortion attempt, because I have faith that the legal process will reveal the truth,” the statement continued.
