PROVIDENCE — A Superior Court judge on Thursday set surety bail at $500,000, plus home confinement with electronic monitoring, for a former East Providence cheerleading coach who is charged with molesting a girl in her competitive cheerleading program during a two-year period that started in 2012.

Alyshia Tkacs, 33, now of Cranston, had been held without bail since her June 17 arrest after a grand jury found probable cause to believe that she had committed a variety of sexual acts on the girl, who was 12 to 14 years old at the time.

As a condition of bail, Judge Linda Rekas Sloan ordered Tkacs to have no contact with the girl, who is now an adult, as well as to have no contact with children under age 16, except her own biological daughter.

Other than answering procedural questions, Tkacs did not address the court.

She is next due in court Aug. 15 for a pretrial conference, which is typically held in the judge's chambers, not open court.

According to the East Providence police, the girl told them that Tkacs molested her almost daily  over two years in East Providence and Barrington.

Tkacs faces five counts of first-degree child molestation and two counts of second-degree child molestation.
