Former Fla. Senate candidate, Invictus, granted $10,000 bail in York County SC. Again.

A former Florida Senate candidate accused of domestic violence in South Carolina has been granted bail from a South Carolina jail for a second time, a judge ruled Tuesday..

Circuit Court Judge William McKinnon set a $10,000 bail for Augustus Sol Invictus at a court hearing Thursday in York, according to court records and 16th Circuit Assistant Public Defender Jeff Zuschke, Invictus’ defense lawyer.

After psoting bail Invictus can leave jail until trial, Zuschke said.

Invictus, 37, has been in York County jail since May. He had been arrested in Florida a month earlier and charged with stalking his wife while out on bail. That Florida charge was dismissed Aug. 4 by Florida prosecutors, according to Orange County, Fla. online court records.

The York County charges remain pending, court records show.

Sixteenth Circuit Assistant Solicitor Jenny Desch, the York County prosecutors handling the Invictus case, confirmed Invictus was granted bail Tuesday, but with conditions concerning safety and contact with the alleged victim in the domestic violence case.

Invictus is charged with domestic violence and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He is charged with choking his wife while holding a gun last December in Rock Hill, according to police and court records, and prosecutors’ previous court statements.

Invictus has said in court previously that he is innocent of all charges. The Herald is not naming the wife.

After Invictus was arrested in December in Florida for the domestic violence charge, he was extradited to York County where he was denied bail until March. Then he was freed in April on $10,000 bond after the COVID-19 pandemic forced all South Carolina jury trials to be postponed. He went to Florida and was set to stay there until his trial, previous court testimony showed.

A York County judge revoked his bond in May because of the arrest in Florida, court documents show. Invictus was denied bond in July after a court hearing.

Invictus is a defense lawyer who unsuccessfully ran as a Libertarian for U.S. Senate in Florida in 2016. He has made public speeches and writings about the failings of the government and judicial system, police said in previous court hearings. Zuschke has said in court Invictus has no criminal record and is a public figure because of his political activities.
