On the day former FSU football star Travis Rudolph allegedly shot a man dead, he had gotten into an altercation with his girlfriend, then fought with a group of men and shot at them while they were trying to leave in a car, according to a sheriff’s arrest report released Thursday.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said Rudolph’s girlfriend called a male friend after the altercation early Wednesday morning, leading the friend and three other people to drive to Rudolph’s home and confront him in Lake Park. “Fighting” broke out for several minutes before the four men got back in their car to leave, the arrest report said.

At that time, Rudolph went back into his home, retrieved a firearm and opened fire on the car. A witness said he saw Rudolph holding a “rifle” at the time of the shooting.

Rudolph was arrested Wednesday on first-degree murder charges and is expected to appear before a judge Thursday when his bond will be set.
