Former Girls Generation (SNSD) member Jessica Jung will debut in a new Chinese girl group with finalists from Season 3 of the reality competition show “Sisters Who Make Waves.”

Jung, 33, placed second on the show and will be part of the upcoming 10-member girl group. The show’s premise centers around artists aged 30 or older who want to make a return to the spotlight. Mandopop icon Cyndi Wang, 39, placed first on “Sisters Who Make Waves.”

During the show’s finale, a surprise message from Krystal, Jung’s younger sister who is a member of SM Entertainment girl group F(x), left Jung in tears.

“Friends and family back here, we’re all supporting you, we know what you’ve been through and I am so proud of you,” Krystal said.

Jung’s victory coincides with the 15th anniversary of her former girl group, which they celebrated with their new comeback album “Forever 1” on Friday.

Jung will gain new group members in the other “Sisters Who Make Waves” finalists: Wang, Kelly Yu, Tan Weiwei, Gillian Chung, Charlene Choi, Fiona Sit, Amber Kuo, Tang Shiyi and Zhang Tianai.

In September 2020, Jung made headlines with the release of her young adult novel “Shine.” The fictional book centers around a teenager who dreams of becoming an idol and is based on Jung’s personal experiences. “Bright,” which is the sequel to “Shine,” was released in May.
