Four months after closing its doors the owners of Green Dot Stables, a slider bar at 410 S. Clippert St., have announced plans to reopen as "The Junction," an entertainment venue.

The venue will host live music, club nights, and national touring acts, according to a news release. Green Dot Stables will serve sliders, fries, beer and cocktails at The Junction as well, it said.

Property owners and Michigan State University alumni Jacques and Christine Driscoll, of InLaws Hospitality, plan to work with Nic Bassalone of Lansing to transition the restaurant. They've installed an engineered professional sound system and light show equipment in the 12,000-square-foot venue.

The location closed in early July and the property was listed for sale or lease, Jacques Driscoll said, but the couple has always been open to other options that would allow them to reopen the business.

"We had a couple of parties come to talk to us about some ideas," he said.

Bassalone had reached out to them years earlier to suggest holding events in the space, so Driscoll reached back out to him again after the location closed.

"And we just started talking and the more we talked we thought, 'This could work,'" Driscoll said. "We could keep the food element going. It was a venue in the past. It was built as a venue so it's kind of bringing back its past. We thought it was a great fit.

The Junction is scheduled to open later this month, hosting several events. That will start with College Night on Oct. 27, and PRISM SATURDAYS on Oct. 29 showcasing a Hallowqueen Drag Show, said the release.

College Nights will include a happy hour from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Guests for both events must be 18 years old. The venue will feature entertainment, DJs, and dancing from 8 p.m until 2 a.m.

Dinner service will at first include a limited menu, Driscoll said.

The Junction is expected to employ between 20 and 30 people when it opens, he said, though he expects to hire more staff.
