Aug. 30—The property on Aiken's Southside where Harry's Local Bar & Restaurant used to be located has a new owner.

Avery Zeigler purchased the 2,324-square-foot building and the land and on which it stands for $275,000 on Aug. 10, according to Aiken County land records.

The seller was Eleanor Manfredi.

"We aren't ready to discuss any plans yet," said Zeigler, who is a certified public accountant in Aiken, during a brief telephone interview Tuesday.

Harry's closed for good in January at 1208 Whiskey Road.

The reason for the restaurant's demise was "unforeseen and unavoidable issues with our building," according to a post on Harry's Facebook page.

Harry and Lorraine Myers established Harry's in 2004 after moving to Aiken from Pennsylvania.

Michael Stern, who featured the business in his Aiken Standard column, Taste of the Town, in 2022, described Harry's as "a tavern where people come to crack crabs, hoist brews and let their hair down."

Diners there could enjoy seafood that was "as good as anywhere in town," Stern wrote.

In addition to crab legs, the menu's options included oysters and shrimp, and Stern singled out for special praise the haddock sandwich's "moist, sweet, foot-long filet" that was served broiled or fried.

Prime rib and salads also were available at Local's or Locals, the other names by which Harry's was known.
