Former Holby City star David Ames reveals whether he'd move to Casualty

Former Holby City star David Ames, who played Dr Dominic Copeland on the soap, has revealed whether he'd make the move to Casualty.

In a new interview, Ames spoke of the friendships he still shares with former castmates and his hope to reprise his fan-favourite role in the same fictional universe.

"I went for brunch in the summer with Rob Ostlere (Arthur), Camilla Arfwedson (Zosia) and Ellie Fanyinka (Morven)," he told Inside Soap magazine. "They all have children under the age of two so that was interesting, I just sat there with a cocktail!

"We make sure we FaceTime every couple of months for a big old catch-up to get the updates on what's going on with family, work and everything else!"

Following the shocking cancellation of Holby City after 23 years in 2022, Ames went on to reveal if he'd ever return to the hospital to play Dom again — this time on Casualty. "I believe Dom occasionally gets mentioned in Casualty, so he is alive and well and within the hospital!" he said.

"I would love to revisit him and see where he is now, Dom was such a multi-faceted character: sassy, emotional, intelligent, so flawed and lovable."

The actor is currently starring in Hollyoaks as headteacher Carter, who was notably involved in the conversion therapy storyline with John Paul — so it remains to be seen whether he'd make the move to Casualty anytime soon.

Ahead of joining the village, Ames told Digital Spy that it was "massively" hard to see the beloved Holby City come to an end — after playing surgeon Dom for its last nine years on air.

"I don't think I realised quite how much so [it impacted me]. It was a bit of a shock to the system," he shared. "I was very lucky as I was distracted immediately. I had Christmas off and then I went into doing a play. But for all of us, it was our family and it was such a well-loved show."
