Former Bellevue hospital converted to support community health, innovation

A former hospital in Bellevue has been renovated to support innovation and community health.

AHN Suburban serves as a home to local, national and international startup companies exploring the next generation of healthcare innovations.

The Inglis Innovation Center Pittsburgh is located within AHN Suburban. The center will provide increased and improved services, resources, and programming for people with disabilities.

According to a news release, Highmark Wholecare provided a $614,000 grant for the project.

“Highmark Wholecare believes that helping people lead their best lives means going beyond traditional doctors and medicine to care for the whole person,” said Ellen Duffield, President and CEO of Highmark Wholecare. “Through our investment in Inglis Innovation Center Pittsburgh, we are delivering on our whole care mission for people with disabilities in western Pennsylvania and beyond. We are excited to bring to the region Inglis’ expertise and proven track record of success.”

IICP will include three programs:

Inglis Assistive Tech Solutions – specialized, goals-based assistive technology (AT) device assessment, acquisition, education, and support
Inglis Impact Accelerator – seeks to create a more accessible, inclusive world by investing in and supporting entrepreneurs from within – and as allies to – the disability community with disruptive ideas and business ventures
3D Printing Research & Development – design, development and training on custom 3Dprinted solutions for the disability community, as well as research, trials, testing and piloting new and existing technology for disability and aging populations with a variety of partners
