Sports reporter and Miami University graduate Charlie Clifford is joining the News 5 (WLWT-TV) broadcast team.

According to a press release, Clifford will start as a sports reporter and anchor next week by covering the Cincinnati Bengals during the NFL draft.

"I'm ecstatic to be a small piece of WLWT's hardworking team that continues to make a significant difference in and around Cincinnati," he said in a statement. “I'm honored to continue WLWT’s legacy of impactful, local storytelling in one of America's most passionate sports towns."

Clifford previously worked as a weekend sports anchor and reporter at WISH-TV, a CW affiliate in Indianapolis, which earned a regional Emmy Award for best sportscast. He was also a regular guest radio host on the Indianapolis radio station The Fan (107.5-FM) and served as a freelance play-by-play broadcaster for Indiana sports teams and Xavier University.

Earlier this month, WLWT welcomed back longtime anchor Courtis Fuller, who had been out on medical leave for almost four months.
