Former Iowa wrestler Jeren Glosser named head coach at Loras, replacing T.J. Miller

Jeren Glosser, a former Iowa wrestler, was named the head wrestling coach at Loras College on Monday just a few days after former head coach, T.J. Miller, was arrested and charged with public intoxication.

Glosser joined the Loras staff as an assistant this past season, and helped the Duhawks to a 12-1 dual-meet record. Four Loras wrestlers qualified for the Division III national championships, and two, Shane Liegel and Jacob Krakow, became All-Americans.

Before Loras, Glosser spent a year as an assistant at NAIA's William Penn University, which followed a successful five-year collegiate career with Iowa. He went 74-19 overall from 2016-20 while wrestling 149, 157 and 165 pounds for the Hawkeyes. Prior to joining Iowa, Glosser was a state champion wrestler for Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont.

Glosser's promotion was announced Monday by Loras athletic director Denise Udelhofen, who said in a release that it was effective immediately. He replaces Miller, who had just completed his sixth season as the Duhawks' head coach.

Miller was arrested early Friday morning in Dubuque on a misdemeanor charge of public intoxication. He was arrested on the same charge in both 2016 and 2017. The Dubuque Telegraph Herald first reported the arrest.

Miller joined the Loras staff in 2015 as an associate head coach, became the head coach in 2016, then very quickly guided Loras to the top of Division III wrestling.

Under Miller, the Duhawks took second at the Division III national championships in 2019 and were the favorites to win in 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic. He has coached 30 All-Americans and two national champions, and was named the 2020 Division III Coach of the Year by the National Wrestling Coaches Association.

Miller was a Division III national champion in 2007 for Wartburg. He is the son of longtime Wartburg wrestling coach Jim Miller.
