Jayveous McKinnis, the three-time SWAC Defensive Player of the Year, has found a new home in the SEC. He announced on Twitter he will transfer to Ole Miss.

"I’m honored by the coaches who’ve reached out and shown interest in me while in the transfer portal," McKinnis said. "It wasn’t a easy decision, but I’ve decided to verbally commit to Coach Kermit Davis and the Ole Miss Rebels. I look forward to helping the rebels take over the SEC."

The 6-foot-7, 225-pound center averaged a double-double the past two seasons, including 12.4 points and 10.3 rebounds this past season. He also added 2.9 blocks.

In 104 games at Jackson State, McKinnis scored 1,080 points and grabbed 1,013 rebounds.

McKinnis entered his name in the transfer portal after coach Wayne Brent announced his retirement. Former NBA player Mo Williams has since been named head coach.

McKinnis will have one year of eligibility in Oxford.
